Are you ready to RELEASE PAIN in the back?

Nearly everyone experiences low back pain at one time or another. Current estimates rate back problems as the second most common reason for visiting doctors, and the leading cause of disability of people under 45.

Most people spend long periods of time in a chair and flatten the lower back, hold their head forwards with chin tipped up and shoulders are rounded forward.

Come & learn:

* VERY EFFECTIVE & SAFE YOGA POSES
* ACUPRESSURE FOR WIDE RANGE OF BACK PAIN CAUSES INCLUDING EMOTION
* POST-HOLIDAY DETOXES
*COLD REMEDIES - teas, vitamins, compresses

Yoga helps back pain by improving the circulation that brings nutrients to the intervertebraI disks while removing toxins. Yogis believe that asanas, with their systematic stretching, bending, wringing a fresh soaking of the disks are particularly effective at delivering the oxygen and other nutrients the disks need to remain healthy and pain free.

This is the Basic Workshop of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (FSS), and the prerequisite for all FSS workshops and training courses. During this experiential workshop, participants are introduced to core shamanism, the universal and near-universal methods of the shaman to enter non-ordinary reality for problem solving, enhanced well-being, and healing. Particular emphasis is put on the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.

Participants in this workshop should bring a notebook and pen to record your experiences, a bandanna or eye mask to cover your eyes, and a drum or rattle if you have one. Also, please bring a rough-surfaced rock about the size of a grapefruit.

Nan P. Moss and David Corbin are Certified Harner Method Shamanic Counselors and faculty members of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
David Perry has practiced shamanism for fifteen years and has taught workshops for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies, Down to Earth, and independently.

Meditation & Oneness Blessing
with Cathy Mann
Twice a month on Sunday afternoons
4:00 - 5:00 PM
$15 per class
Please Pre-register
~~~~~~~~~
In a modern world that values activity, achievements and results, it is perhaps not surprising that more people are turning to meditation.
For all the activity of modern society, many still feel a fundamental need for silence, inner peace, and a moment of reflection. Meditation can reduce stress and help us relax and it can also have huge health benefits. Experience tranquility and peace in your heart.
The Oneness Blessing frees the constant chatter of the mind resulting in clarity of perception and spontaneous feelings of love, joy, peace, and inner silence. The Blessing is dogma-free and does not belong to any particular religion, philosophy or belief system. It helps each of us discover and fully experience the reality of our own unique relationship with the Divine.
Shamanic Drumming
4th Friday of Every Month
Time: 7:15 - 9/9:30 PM
Cost: $10 to cover the cost of the space. This will be reduced if enough people attend.
~~~~~~~~~
Join us for a night of shamanic community, journey work, healing and drumming. This circle is open to anyone who knows how to journey shamanically. It is not, however, a class for learning how to journey.

Bring drums and rattles if you have either or both. Also bring a notebook and pen to record your journeys. Please feel free to bring a small object for our alter as well.

Yoga practice during pregnancy may enhance the pregnancy experience and contribute to a shorter, more physicologic labor and a decreased likelihood of operative intervention, including cesarean section and operative vaginal delivery (forceps and vacuum). Because of the physiologic changes during pregnancy and the alteration of the normal anatomy, care must be exercised when teaching yoga to pregnant patients. In this course we will review basic physiologic and anatomical changes in pregnancy that mandate an alternative approach to the usual yoga practice. Participants will learn which postures to avoid in each of the three trimesters and will become aware of the usual postures which need to be modified because of the changes that occur as pregnancy progresses. Postures that enhance the opportunity of normal vaginal delivery will be emphasized and a routine yoga practice for pregnant patients will be emphasized. Teachers of yoga will become more comfortable with instructing pregnant patients to enjoy yoga during this wonderful time of their lives 15 contact hours for nurses.
