The Yoga Studio
Founded in 1996 by yoga teacher Cathy Mann, The Yoga Studio of Millis offers seven days a week of classical hatha yoga based on the Iyengar method and a variety of other yoga classes, including teacher training. We also offer one of the Franklin region's deepest selections of healing therapies, including Acupuncture, Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapy as well as a dynamic schedule of informative workshops on meditation, nutrition and health and wellness issues to help people at all ages restore the body, mind and spirit.

Cathy Mann

 

Cathy Mann is the director and founder for The Yoga Studio in Millis, Massachusetts. Cathy has been studying, practicing, and teaching in the yoga, meditation, and wellness fields extensively for over twenty five years. She is a certified Hatha yoga teacher since 1987 and a 500-hour ERYT Registered Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance. She has studied directly with Patricia Walden for the past fifteen years, is a graduate of her Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program and a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.

Cathy has also studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, is a Reiki Master, and a CranioSacral Therapist trained through the Upledger Institute. She is a member of and workshop leader/coordinator for the Oneness Movement, a group dedicated to the transformation of man's consciousness. Cathy is also teaches at Boston University Medical School where she particiapates in an NIH sponsored research program on the efeects of Yoga on Depression.

Tricia Cunniff
Tricia came to the mat in 2009 as a way to find peace amidst struggles with anxiety and depression. She instantly felt the healing benefits of the practice and wanted to learn as much about yoga as possible. After years of dedicated practice in a variety of styles, Tricia completed her 200 hour certificatio at The Yoga Studio in Millis, MA in 2016. Trained in the Hatha style, Tricia creates a safe environment for her students by encouraging the use of props and healthy modifications. Holding the belief that anyone can and should practice yoga, Tricia's classes are created for students to reconnect to themselves and find harmony in their minds, bodies, and spirits.

Denise D'Amico
Denise began her practice of yoga several years ago at the Yoga Studio as a way to increase her flexibility and strength as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She soon realized the transformational power of yoga and took her first steps of her yogic journey that continues to this day. Through her gentle and quiet manner, Denise seeks to inspire and motivate her students to experience the true meaning of yoga by cultivating an awareness of the interconnectedness between mind, body, and spirit. In a nurturing and relaxed atmosphere, Denise leads her students though yoga classes with the intention of leaving them with a sense of balance, mindfulness, and peace. Denise completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Cathy Mann and is also certified in teaching Senior Yoga.

Ginny Dorn
Ginny Dorn is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with the National Yoga Alliance. Ginny began her practice after recognizing the need to begin an exercise regimen and selected Yoga because of its non-intrusive nature and meditative qualities.

Once into a regular practice, she became interested in teaching and began her training program. She began teaching yoga in 2005 in a corporate environment bringing stress relieving techniques to her students.

Ginny's classes are a combination of traditional Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Her classes are challenging and fun for practitioners of all levels.

Kathy Finn
Kathy began practicing yoga to bring peace and balance to her mind. She discovered that the practice had a profound effect not only on the mind but on the body as well. Kathy believes yoga is the opening to new possibilities; it is the opportunity to create a healthier body, clearer mind and sense of peace that translates to the outside world. She began sharing this practice with friends and coworkers, and in 2012 completed her 200 hour teacher training through Finding Inner Peace. She is currently working towards the 500 hour teacher certification through The Yoga Studio, focusing on the therapeutic aspects of yoga. She is a Reiki Practitioner and certified in Thai Body Work Level 1.

Kathy is grateful for the opportunity to share the joy yoga brings to her life with her students. She teaches Restorative and Gentle Yoga offering a safe space where students can let go of tension in the body and mind and find peace and vitality.



Lindsay Helwig
Lindsay HelwigLindsay Helwig is certified in Classical Hatha Yoga and has practiced yoga for 15 years. She was originally drawn to yoga in high school to combat stress and began a lifelong journey of self discovery. Stepping on the mat was and still is like coming home. She began teaching informal classes in her parent’s backyard and at the Wayland food pantry. In 2010 Lindsay became certified in the 200 hr yoga teacher training through Finding Inner Peace. Lindsay enjoys making yoga accessible to everyone and fosters a deep sense of community through her yoga classes. Yoga has profoundly touched her life and she hopes to share this gift with all who step foot in her classes. Lindsay is currently enrolled in the 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training and especially loves teaching Prenatal Yoga. In her prenatal classes, Lindsay draws upon all of her experience in yoga to help mothers prepare for labor through breath, visualization, relaxation and gentle postures. This has inspired her to pursue a path as a birth doula increasing her knowledge and facilitating this beautiful rite of passage for a woman. Over the years Lindsay has studied medicinal herbs, shamanic healing and ritual, meditation, mantra, energy healing, and holistic nutrition. Lindsay blends this knowledge into every one of her classes to facilitate deep relaxation and inner peace.


MaryEllen Jurchak
MaryEllen Jurchak began her journey with yoga in 1998 with Cathy Mann and continues this passionate journey while balancing her career in corporate IT. After experiencing the positive results that yoga provides, MaryEllen chose to complete a Teacher Training program through Cathy Mann. She is a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher and has gained experience teaching at the Yoga Studio, Medfield Recreational Center and at Dana Hall School in Wellesley. Through Cathy Mann's guidance and knowledge in the Iyengar method, MaryEllen has continued to explore her fulfilling journey by attending weekly classes and workshops with Patricia Walden and Peentz Dubble. She is currently involved in her 2nd year of IYNAUS Iyengar Beginner's Teacher Training program with Patricia Walden.

MaryEllen is committed to helping her students gain a deeper connection and awareness as they explore each pose through her thoughtful instructions and attention to alignment. Through her guidance, she hopes her students will leave the class with an enriched experience that leaves them more physically and mentally relaxed as they re-enter their lives off the mat.

Outside her daily practice, MaryEllen enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and adventurous travels on the back roads of New England on her motorcycle, bicycle or two feet.

Shannon Lemire
Shannon has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and completed both 200 and 500 hour teacher training with Cathy Mann.

Her method of teaching brings knowledge of anatomy and a keen awareness of how the body moves. She has the awareness to teach not only a gentle class geared to everyone, but also instruct a more intermediate class geared to those who would like more of a challenge. You will feel great afterwards and have a clear mind to go about your day.

Shannon teaches Sunday evenings at 5:30pm- gentle yoga, as well as Monday mornings at 9am- a more challenging intermediate class.

Marsha Mancuso
Marsha completed her 200 hour training with Cathy Mann and is presently enrolled in the 500 hour program. She is an enthusiastic and sensitive teacher who has the desire to share yoga and healing with others. Her classes bring a calmness and serenity to her students by incorporating posture with breath and mindfulness. Marsha teaches and practices yoga to keep the body flexible with stretching and postures, and the mind calm thru strengthening the mind/body/soul connection.

Mary Anne Murphy
Mary Anne received her 500 hour RYT in June - 2015 at the Yoga Studio in Millis, MA. She enjoys working with all age groups and is currently teaching Kids Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Stretch and Strengthen for Seniors classes. It is her intention to create a warm and nurturing environment for each student to experience the many benefits of yoga. Leading an active lifestyle and practicing yoga for many years, she is pleased to be sharing the sense of vitality, innerpeace and mindfulness that yoga has brought to her life.

Ashley Rose-Mello
Ashley Rose-Mello, LMT, E-RYT earned her Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration in Holistic Heath from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and went on to complete over 1,000 hours of training at Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Colorado. As a Massage Therapist, she has experience working with prenatal and postpartum women, as well as individuals with both chronic and acute health conditions in hospitals and private practice. Ashley works with the client's natural breathing rhythms to create freedom and space where pain and/or resistance may be present. She combines techniques from Swedish Therapeutic Massage, Normalization of Soft Tissue, Zen Shiatsu, and Integrative Massage to tailor each treatment session to meet the individual needs of the client.

In addition to Ashley's massage therapy training, she is an experienced registered yoga teacher, having completed a Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training and The Yoga Studio's 500-hour Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher Training focusing on the principles of alignment. Ashley is influenced by many teachers and styles of yoga and is committed to continuing her education through classes, workshops, & self practice. Her passion for the practice of yoga, as well as her prior training in the field of health and wellness allow her to take a holistic approach to her yoga instruction that works to bring awareness and balance to the body, mind, and spirit.

Jana Sieswerda  

 

Jana KarpfovaJana Sieswerda – licensed acupuncturist, has been involved in complimentary medicine for over 15 years. It is upon this foundation that Jana build her work as a practitioner of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Jana completed extensive Master's studies in Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture at New England School of Acupuncture.

As an advanced Shiatsu teacher in Germany and Czech Republic, she managed Shiatsu and Thai Bodywork programs integrating Cranial Sacral, Yoga, nutrition, Asian bodywork and western techniques.

Jana sees patients with wide variety of conditions and specializes in Pain and Stress Management, Respiratory Health, Gastrointestinal Disorders, and OB/GYN. Jana's treatment style is gentle and compassionate.

Additionally Jana has studied intensively under Kiiko Matsumoto "the Master acupuncturist" in the US and the leading instructor of the acupuncture program at the Harvard Medical School's continuing education department.


Jane Strickland
Jane discovered yoga in her early twenties and completed her 500 hour teacher training with Cathy Mann at the Yoga Studio. She is currently assisting Cathy in the 300 hour teacher training program. She is a Reiki practitioner and a lawyer by profession.

In her classes Jane combines breath awareness, stretching exercises, varying postures and relaxation to develop strength and flexibility, and establish a deep connection between breath and movement. She believes that the practice of yoga postures provides an opportunity to consciously control physical movements in order to create balance and improve the quality of daily life activities. She teaches from her heart and seeks to establish a safe and healing environment that meets the individual needs of each student. She incorporates some form of healing energy work into each class.

Geri Tasker
Geri practiced yoga for many years before becoming a registered instructor. She completed her 200 hours of training with Cathy Mann through Finding Inner Peace Yoga School and enjoys teaching vinyasa flow as well as gentle classes. By profession Geri is a public school teacher with over 25 years of experience at the middle school level. In recent years, she has introduced yoga in her school by offering yoga classes to students and staff members in after school programs. She firmly believes that the practice of yoga has had a very positive effect on her ability to maintain balance between meeting the challenges associated with teaching and enjoying family life. In her classes, Geri combines the yoga arts of prana (breath), asana (posture), and savasana (relaxation) to maximize benefit to the whole person and instill a sense of healing calmness to the mind.





Shubhada Wavikar
Shubhada Wavikar completed her 200 hours yoga teacher training with Cathy in October 2015. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance. She is currently enrolled in the 500 hour teacher training program at The Yoga Studio. She is also enrolled in Kidding Around Yoga's Kids Yoga Teacher training program. She has additional continuing education units in senior yoga. Shubhada is CPR/ AED certified.

Originally from India, Shubhada sees yogic philosophy as a way of life. She has a good understanding of the Sanskrit terminology of yoga. Seeing the benefits of yoga for some of her close family and friends, Shubhada became interested in teaching yoga in recent years. She has a deep appreciation for the mind, body and spirit connection of yoga. She is a believer in the power of yoga for achieving peace and equanimity of mind.

She feels very grateful to have the opportunity to share the blessing of yoga with her students.

Jessica Weintraub
Jessica was initially drawn to yoga 10 years ago for the physical benefits, but eventually became intrigued by the mental clarity and stress management techniques she was learning through pranayama and meditation.

As her practice and self-exploration progressed, she found herself wanting to deepen her knowledge to share with others. Jessica completed her 200 hour teacher training with Cathy Mann in 2014 and hopes to enroll in this year in the 300 hour program.

In her gentle classes, Jessica focuses on meditation, breath awareness, and proper alignment. She strives to provide a nurturing environment where all her students feel comfortable to explore their mind, body, and spirit. She believes it is important to incorporate balance and awareness into daily life, not just on your mat. Jessica lives in Medway with her husband and 2 boys, Jack and Owen.
