Founded in 1996 by yoga teacher Cathy Mann, The Yoga Studio of Millis offers seven days a week of classical hatha yoga based on the Iyengar method and a variety of other yoga classes, including teacher training. We also offer one of the Franklin region's deepest selections of healing therapies, including Acupuncture, Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapy as well as a dynamic schedule of informative workshops on meditation, nutrition and health and wellness issues to help people at all ages restore the body, mind and spirit.

Cathy Mann

Cathy Mann

 

Cathy Mann is the director and founder for The Yoga Studio in Millis, Massachusetts. Cathy has been studying, practicing, and teaching in the yoga, meditation, and wellness fields extensively for over twenty years.  She is a certified Hatha yoga teacher since 1987 and a 500-hour ERYT Registered Yoga Teacher with the National Yoga Alliance. She has studied directly with Patricia Walden for the past twelve years, is a graduate of her Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program and a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher.

Cathy has also studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, is a Reiki Master, and a CranioSacral Therapist trained through the Upledger Institute. She is a member of and workshop leader/coordinator for the Oneness Movement, a group dedicated to the transformation of man’s consciousness. Cathy is also a member of the Finding Inner Peace Yoga School faculty.

Jana Karpfova-Sieswerda  

 

Jana KarpfovaJana Karpfova-Sieswerda – licensed acupuncturist, has been involved in complimentary medicine for over 15 years. It is upon this foundation that Jana build her work as a practitioner of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Jana completed extensive Master’s studies in Japanese and Chinese styles of acupuncture at New England School of Acupuncture.

As an advanced Shiatsu teacher in Germany and Czech Republic, she managed Shiatsu and Thai Bodywork programs integrating Cranial Sacral, Yoga, nutrition, Asian bodywork and western techniques.

Jana sees patients with wide variety of conditions and specializes in Pain and Stress Management, Respiratory Health, Gastrointestinal Disorders, and OB/GYN. Jana’s treatment style is gentle and compassionate.

Additionally Jana has studied intensively under Kiiko Matsumoto ”the Master acupuncturist” in the US and the leading instructor of the acupuncture program at the Harvard Medical School’s continuing education department.

Mitzi Bramble
Mitzi teaches courage, compassion, and connection as a path to wholeness through hatha yoga. Yoga is an ideal way to discover your personalized transformational journey. Mitzi also practices expressive arts therapy, psychotherapy, holistic health coaching, and a high school counseling for at-risk kids. She teaches yoga three times a week as an alternative gym class to students with anxiety and depression in a local public high school. She did her 200 hour training at The Yoga Studio and is currently enrolled in the Advanced Yoga Training with a focus on yoga therapy. Her intention is to always bring loving-kindness and light-heartedness to her classes in order to plant the seeds for self-care and personal growth.

Carla Ciampa
Carla has been practicing yoga with Cathy Mann for over 15 years. She came to yoga to regain flexibility and inner calmness. Yoga quickly became a great complement to her other activities. Carla is an avid athelete who is also trained to teach Cardio kickboxing. She found The Yoga Studio to be a place of comfort, where Carla grew to have a deeper understanding of herself, both physically and mentally. As a certified yoga teacher and reiki practitioner, Carla is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and passion with her students. She is equally comfortable teaching a quiet gentle class or a physically invigorating one.

Denise D'Amico
Denise began her practice of yoga several years ago at the Yoga Studio as a way to increase her flexibility and strength as part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She soon realized the transformational power of yoga and took her first steps of her yogic journey that continues to this day. Through her gentle and quiet manner, Denise seeks to inspire and motivate her students to experience the true meaning of yoga by cultivating an awareness of the interconnectedness between mind, body, and spirit. In a nurturing and relaxed atmosphere, Denise leads her students though yoga classes with the intention of leaving them with a sense of balance, mindfulness, and peace. Denise completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training with Cathy Mann and is also certified in teaching Senior Yoga.

Ginny Dorn
Ginny Dorn is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) with the National Yoga Alliance. Ginny began her practice after recognizing the need to begin an exercise regimen and selected Yoga because of its non-intrusive nature and meditative qualities.

Once into a regular practice, she became interested in teaching and began her training program. She began teaching yoga in 2005 in a corporate environment bringing stress relieving techniques to her students.

Ginny's classes are a combination of traditional Hatha and Vinyasa styles of yoga. Her classes are challenging and fun for practitioners of all levels.

Kathy Finn
Kathy began practicing yoga to bring peace and balance to her mind. She discovered that the practice had a profound effect not only on the mind but on the body as well. Kathy believes yoga is the opening to new possibilities; it is the opportunity to create a healthier body, clearer mind and sense of peace that translates to the outside world. She began sharing this practice with friends and coworkers, and in 2012 completed her 200 hour teacher training through Finding Inner Peace. She is currently working towards the 500 hour teacher certification through The Yoga Studio, focusing on the therapeutic aspects of yoga. She is a Reiki Practitioner and certified in Thai Body Work Level 1.

Kathy is grateful for the opportunity to share the joy yoga brings to her life with her students. She teaches Restorative and Gentle Yoga offering a safe space where students can let go of tension in the body and mind and find peace and vitality.

Alexandra Foran
Alex is an enthusiastic teacher who enjoys sharing the gift of yoga: yoga has personally helped her to heal and grow in incredible and profound ways. Yoga helps create balance and harmony, as someone who used to often become ill and regularly overextend herself, she now seeks the peace that yoga can bring to her practice and life.

As a poet, writer, musician, and artist she infuses different aspects of the arts into her classes – creating a higher vibration during particular segments of her classes through guided imagery and live music. Alex plays violin, guitar, upright bass, electric bass, and most recently the baby harp.

Alex is a certified yoga teacher through the yoga alliance and a reiki practitioner who loves teaching and sharing yoga with people all ages, accommodating all as she strives to cultivate leading a practice from the heart. Extending warmth and love to those around her is a blessing for her.

Jean Greiff
Jean has been practicing yoga at The Yoga Studio for ten years. Being a long-term practitioner of yoga helped her to develop a strong basis for her personal practice and this wealth of knowledge is evident in her teaching.  She became certified through the Finding Inner Peace Yoga School in 2006 and has been teaching at The Yoga Studio ever since.

For the last four years, Jean has been on the staff at Dana Hall School in Wellesley, where she teaches yoga to children and teens.  Jean is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. As a result of this training, her classes have a focus on the psychological as well as the physical well-being that comes from practicing yoga. She believes that yoga offers a profound and lasting path toward wellness and considers it a “helping” profession much like social work. 



Lindsay Helwig
Lindsay HelwigLindsay Helwig is certified in Classical Hatha Yoga and has practiced yoga for 15 years. She was originally drawn to yoga in high school to combat stress and began a lifelong journey of self discovery. Stepping on the mat was and still is like coming home. She began teaching informal classes in her parent’s backyard and at the Wayland food pantry. In 2010 Lindsay became certified in the 200 hr yoga teacher training through Finding Inner Peace. Lindsay enjoys making yoga accessible to everyone and fosters a deep sense of community through her yoga classes. Yoga has profoundly touched her life and she hopes to share this gift with all who step foot in her classes. Lindsay is currently enrolled in the 500 hour advanced yoga teacher training and especially loves teaching Prenatal Yoga. In her prenatal classes, Lindsay draws upon all of her experience in yoga to help mothers prepare for labor through breath, visualization, relaxation and gentle postures. This has inspired her to pursue a path as a birth doula increasing her knowledge and facilitating this beautiful rite of passage for a woman. Over the years Lindsay has studied medicinal herbs, shamanic healing and ritual, meditation, mantra, energy healing, and holistic nutrition. Lindsay blends this knowledge into every one of her classes to facilitate deep relaxation and inner peace.


MaryEllen Jurchak
MaryEllen Jurchak began her journey with yoga in 1998 with Cathy Mann and continues this passionate journey while balancing her career in corporate IT. After experiencing the positive results that yoga provides, MaryEllen chose to complete a Teacher Training program through Cathy Mann. She is a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher and has gained experience teaching at the Yoga Studio, Medfield Recreational Center and at Dana Hall School in Wellesley. Through Cathy Mann's guidance and knowledge in the Iyengar method, MaryEllen has continued to explore her fulfilling journey by attending weekly classes and workshops with Patricia Walden and Peentz Dubble. She is currently involved in her 2nd year of IYNAUS Iyengar Beginner's Teacher Training program with Patricia Walden.

MaryEllen is committed to helping her students gain a deeper connection and awareness as they explore each pose through her thoughtful instructions and attention to alignment. Through her guidance, she hopes her students will leave the class with an enriched experience that leaves them more physically and mentally relaxed as they re-enter their lives off the mat.

Outside her daily practice, MaryEllen enjoys spending time with her husband, two children and adventurous travels on the back roads of New England on her motorcycle, bicycle or two feet.

Perrin LeBlanc
Perrin is a certified Yoga teacher who came to The Yoga Studio ten years ago to cope with a medical condition and found yoga to have far more benefits than simply managing her pain.  She decided in 2008 to begin her teacher training with Cathy Mann through the Finding Inner Peace Yoga School, so she could share the healing power of yoga with others.  She teaches asana with an emphasis on proper alignment and Ramayana as a path to intuitive healing. She is a compassionate, nurturing teacher who inspires her students to new levels of confidences and encourages them to move from within.

Shannon Lemire
Shannon has always been pro-active with wellness through healthy eating and exercise. She discovered yoga in her early twenties and has been a devoted practicing yogi ever since. Loving the benefits of yoga so much, Shannon made the decision to take her personal yoga practice further by taking Teacher Training at The Yoga Studio in 2011.

Her style of yoga in which she has primarily practiced and taught is Classical Hatha but having discovered and falling in love with Yin Yoga in 2012, she chose to take the Level 1 Yin Yoga teacher training with Joshua Summers. She now teaches both Classical Hatha and Yin Yoga classes.

Shannon is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Reflexologist, and Reiki Master. She is passionate about facilitating a sense of balance between the minds, body, and spirit for each client, as well as, with each class she teaches

Denise Leonard
Denise is a certified yoga teacher through the yoga alliance and is a certified reiki master in the usui tradition as well as a level one integrated energy therapy practitioner. She completed her 200 hour teacher training through Finding Inner Peace and is now completing her 500 hour teacher training through The Yoga Studio. focusing on the therapeutic aspects of yoga.

Denise comes to yoga from an athletic and strength training background. Over the years, yoga has taught her to listen to her body, open her heart and connect with her true self. The healing benefits of yoga have been so valuable in all aspects of her life that she feels blessed to be able to share the gift of yoga with others. Her teaching style incorporates breath awareness, proper alignment and strength and flexibility creating an openess throughout the body and a sense of peace within. Whether she be teaching to children, adults or seniors, It is her intention to create a warm, nurturing environment where students can express themselves freely and feel inspired to find their own inner beauty, strength and peace within.

When Denise is not teaching or practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time with her two children outdoors. Hiking, kayaking and trail running are some of her favorite ways to relax.

Marsha Mancuso
Marsha completed her 200 hour training with Cathy Mann and is presently enrolled in the 500 hour program. She is an enthusiastic and sensitive teacher who has the desire to share yoga and healing with others. Her classes bring a calmness and serenity to her students by incorporating posture with breath and mindfulness. Marsha teaches and practices yoga to keep the body flexible with stretching and postures, and the mind calm thru strengthening the mind/body/soul connection.

Kathleen Montgomery
Kathleen is a Licensed Holistic Massage Therapist, Registered Yoga Teacher and Reiki Master, adding an energetic component to her work. Her strong grounding presence creates a sense of calm within a safe, nurturing environment where you can relax, heal and rejuvenate. She believes in the power of touch, guiding each client to honor their own body wisdom, and tapping into the innate healing energy within. Through the breath, we bring nourishment, strength and energy to the body.

She began her yoga practice in 2000, attending a month-long Holistic Lifestyle Educator training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. She is devoted to promoting holistic practices that empower others to create a more balanced way of being. She is a certified Yoga Meets Dance TM teacher, Radiant Child Yoga Facilitator, and completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training through the Finding Inner Peace Yoga School. Her classes are held within sacred space where you can nourish your body, rest your mind, and soothe your soul.

Ashley Rose-Mello
Ashley has been practicing different styles of yoga for over fourteen years, but it has been her experience with Kundalini Yoga that has resonated with her the most. As a result, she decided to become an instructor and immerse herself in the study of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. Ashley is grateful for the balance and stillness that yoga brings to her life, and appreciates the opportunity to share the benefits of this practice with others. She especially enjoys sharing her practice with her 2 year-old daughter, who has been Ashley's little assistant in the Mom and Tots Yoga class! To further Ashley's current training, she is completing a Certification in Children's Yoga, as well as a 500-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program.

Prior to her yoga training, Ashley earned a Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration in Holistic Heath from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and went on to complete over 1000 hours of training at Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Colorado. As a CMT, she has experience working with prenatal and postpartum women, as well as individuals with both chronic and acute health conditions. These experiences have added depth to Ashley's understanding of the body, enabling her to modify yoga postures based on the individual needs of her students. Ashley's passion for the practice of yoga, as well as her prior training in the field of health and wellness allow her to take a holistic approach to her yoga instruction that works to bring awareness and balance to the body, mind, and soul.

Lisa O'Neill
Lisa has been a dedicated student at The Yoga Studio for the last few years. She came to The Yoga Studio to overcome a health condition. Through her yoga practice she realized the tremendous power of healing, balance, confidence and nurturing yoga brought into her life to improve her overall health. She completed her 200 hour teacher training and is currently working towards the 500 hour teacher training through The Yoga Studio. She is excited to continue her journey and self awareness through her continued yoga practice and teaching. Lisa teaches a gentle yoga class offering practitioners a safe environment and a time to be with their mind and body. Lisa is an enthusiastic teacher who uses her own healing experience to help others heal and unwind from the hectic pace of life.

Rachel Stern
Rachel became a Certified Hatha yoga instructor with Finding Inner Peace in 2010. Yoga has impacted her life greatly and she enjoys sharing its healing benefits with others. After practicing yoga regularly Rachel noticed wonderful things start to happen; she felt more creative, gained more confidence, and is more grounded and able to handle stress in better ways. Rachel teaches in a loving and gentle manner; her class setting is safe and welcoming for all. Her soothing voice will leave you feeling calm, peaceful and balanced in the body and mind.

Geri Tasker
Geri practiced yoga for many years before becoming a registered instructor. She completed her 200 hours of training with Cathy Mann through Finding Inner Peace Yoga School and enjoys teaching vinyasa flow as well as gentle classes. By profession Geri is a public school teacher with over 25 years of experience at the middle school level. In recent years, she has introduced yoga in her school by offering yoga classes to students and staff members in after school programs. She firmly believes that the practice of yoga has had a very positive effect on her ability to maintain balance between meeting the challenges associated with teaching and enjoying family life. In her classes, Geri combines the yoga arts of prana (breath), asana (posture), and savasana (relaxation) to maximize benefit to the whole person and instill a sense of healing calmness to the mind.

Mary Shannon Teague
Mary Shannon is a natural teacher and has always jumped at any opportunity to share her knowledge of health and wellness with others. As a world traveler, she has spent over five years traveling around Asia and Australia studying yoga and Ayurveda and is touching down in Millis, Massachusetts for a limited time before once again taking off to further her knowledge and experience overseas. She has been blessed to complete her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with Cathy Mann here at The Yoga Studio so is confident in her ability to recognize and adjust poses for better alignment, strength, flexibility and for certain therapeutic benefits. She aims to bring her calm understanding, spirituality, strength, and vitality to her classroom and is excited to see you on Saturdays.

Karen Zelinsky
Karen has been practicing yoga for over a decade and has been teaching yoga since 2005, focusing her teaching efforts on working with expectant families. She is a Certified HypnoBirthing Facilitator, Childbirth Educator through the Boston Association for Childbirth Education and is also a birth doula and the proud mother of two boys. Karen teaches our prenatal class on Sundaysand is available for private sessions for expectant mothers and fathers.
